About Me

Hi, I’m Darin

I’m an experienced and certified leadership coach who partners with introverted professionals to help them thrive in a world that can’t stop talking.

For years I felt as though I was different, and somehow inferior, to my more extraverted colleagues and friends. I saw my more outgoing and talkative peers getting more opportunities, so I logically assumed that I just needed to be more extraverted. I saw my introverted nature as a defect that needed to be conquered.

So I pushed through. I socialized when I really wanted to be alone. I asked questions when I really didn’t care about the answers. I forced myself to share recommendations, when I really needed more time to process the options.

The worst part was…it worked! On the outside I was a highly successful Project Manager and Operations Consultant. On the inside I was a ball of stress and wasn’t sure why. Over the years, I became crystal clear on what I wanted more of, and less of, in my professional and personal life. I traded salary and titles for passion and flexibility, and now I get the privilege and opportunity to help introverted professionals get that same clarity!

I hold a Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology, plus over 13 years of experience as a certified Project Manager (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and coach. This means that as my client, you benefit from a robust suite of tools, resources and insights to help you quickly achieve your goals, while learning a lot about yourself in the process.

PowerPlay Coaching & Consulting was created to help introverted professionals navigate the complexities of operating in a world that worships extraversion. In hockey, a “power play” represents a resource advantage whereby one team benefits from having more players on the ice. Consider me your resource advantage!

When I’m not coaching, you can find me making music, enjoying the great outdoors, performing improv comedy, or spending time with mylittle brother”.
